[ Peter's hair is all over the places and he looks relaxed. You don't need to be a telepath to tell when someone's relaxed and what that reason could be.
Scott will take pity of him and not mention anything but don't mind him hiding a smile behind his hand.]
The movie's ready on the vrc. Could you...? [ With his super-speed it shouldn't take more than a second to Peter to press play and frankly, Scott's too lady to move right now. ]
[ That gets a laugh out of him, since he couldn't help it. ]
Thanks! [ Scott shifts on the couch so they can both be comfortable before reaching out for some popcorn. ] Yeah that's kind of a first too. Can't say I was hella popular at my last school.
That sounds like fun, they have to try at some point.
No, never, But it's about a family vacation in a hotel, how scary that can be?
[ Turn out, it's pretty fucking scary after all. By the time they're a half movie in, Scott has forgotten the popcorn in order of staring in horror at the twin girls on the screen being creepy as hell.
He's really itching to have something to hold onto but grabbing one of the pillows of the couch to hug it would probably be childish. Instead, he slides slightly closer to Peter.]
[bet scott's regretting that now, considering the creepy ass twins on the television in front of them.
surprisingly, even peter's abandoned their snackage, legs drawn up and crossed one over the other, knuckles white from how tight he's gripping his knees. he should have known better (goddamn stephen king and his spook factor), but he hadn't been expecting to be this freaked out by a couple of little girls.
from his peripheral, he sees scott move closer, ends up biting the inside of his cheek to resist smirking. not like he's going to object sitting closer, so the speedster inches over a bit more, too, easing the hold on his legs. after relaxing back against the cushion, he stretches the arm closest to scott out across the back of the couch, totally casual as he focuses on the movie.]
[ Scott's regretting many things, one of them is them not bothering to turn on the lights of the room as the sun set and their surroundings got darker and darker. He takes a mental note to never ever again watch anything Stanley Kubrick directer or Stephen King wrote. Okay maybe he won't be able to keep his won on the last one, King is just too good, but still.
He's far too engrossed in the movie to notice Peter arm moving but he does notice a lack of mockery coming in his direction when he gets close to Peter and for that, he's very grateful.
Is too bad that things get weirder and scarier as the main character loses his mind. The encounter with the woman in Room 217 raises his eyebrows at the unexpected naked woman in the middle of such a movie because it's clear it means nothing good. And sure enough, it gets gross a moment later when the woman turns out to be a walking, decaying post. Scott leans against' Peter's shoulder, pouting. ]
[see, it wouldn't be fair of him to give scott shit when he's just as spooked-- a totally new sensation for him, since he's never really weirded out by things. terrifying ghost children are another thing entirely, though.
and scott will never understand peter's appreciation for him not noticing how he's also inching closer.
too bad there's the unfortunate matter of the nasty corpse of a woman coming across the screen at the perfect time. the speedster releases a high-pitched noise and suddenly wraps his arm tight around scott's shoulder, his entire body stiff as a board. jesus christ, that was wholly unexpected.
he sits there a moment, tries composing himself before his uncomfortable composure becomes too obvious, though it might be late for that, considering his vice-like grip on the other boy's shoulder.] Fuck all of that, man. Time to use the buddy system when it comes to cleaning up.
[ Terrifying ghost children are a pretty good reason to flip your shit, no one should judge them.
Scott wasn't expecting Peter to be startled too and the immediate reaction at the man jumping and clutching him was to wrap one of his arms around Peter's waist. ]
Y-yeah that sounds good. We have communal showers near the Danger room, so there's that. No bathtubs for creepy, undead old ladies to chill in...
[ He doesn't mind Peter holding onto his shoulder, it doesn't hurt so far so it's not a big deal. Plus, they still have at least 30 more minutes until the movie ends. And they're in the part where the little kid starts chanting 'redrum' and the mother discovers the manuscript with endless pages only filled with: "all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy". ]
Okay, he's definitely gone bonkers. It's official. [ Scott murmurs under his breath, then one of his hands clings to Peter's shirt as the couple fight and she hits him unconscious with a baseball bat before locking him up in the pantry. Does the school has a pantry? Scotts pretty sure it does. Just another place to add to the list of 'never ever check it alone and at night'. ]
[an arm instinctively wrapping around his waist captures peter's attention, if only for a moment. he thinks maybe — just maybe — he enjoyed the feel of that a little more than he'd anticipated.
which might be why his own words fumble,] C-Communal shower? I'll scrub your back if you scrub mine, [but he follows up strong with a decent joke. (or so he thinks?)]
I'd lose my shit, too. Thank God none of this shit can happen.
[call him a skeptic all you like, scott, but there's no way he's going to spook himself even more by believing they might find something in the kitchen as well. people need to be in them because that's where food is. despite his bold claim, quicksilver's hand reaches and clasps the one holding his shirt, dark eyes still wide with fright.]
[ Scott is too engrossed in the movie to notice Peter's glance. The position they're in feels comforting and safe to have a solid weight to lean in and hold onto, he couldn't help it. And Peter really got a pretty solid body, Scott's considering briefly if it's because of all the training they do when the other man's question finally gets him to tear his eyes away from the tv. ]
Uh. oh, yes, right sure...[ What did he exactly agree to do, again? Scott's brain might be more distracted by the fear that he originally thought but the idea isn't all unpleasant. He gave Peter a smile when their hand touch. ] Right. No way this can ever happen. Ghost living in creepy old houses, stupid right?
[ He looks briefly at the screen, then back at Peter. ] The mansion doesn't have a hedge maze, right?
[honestly, he'd prefer it that way because it means scott isn't looking at the horrified expression on his face. at least when he does finally avert his attention, peter's brow has softened, lips still pursed in an unpleasant frown.]
Didn't even hear what I said, did ya? [which is also fine. he wouldn't mind letting that comment go right over scott's head then surprising him one day by zooming into the shower with him.] Totally. Besides, if it were true, I bet there's a mutant here that can talk to dead people or something.
[he's almost too focused on their hand-holding to notice scott looking at him again, but he has been more observant during this horror flick, no hesitation glancing over his shoulder every now and then.] Uh ... I've got no idea, dude.
Ah...heh. [ He gives Peter a sheepish smile. no, he really wasn't listening, so that does give Peter an excuse to startle him one day. ] Jesus, and I think my power is bad. I hope no one has to deal with that.
[ He sighs and leans against Peter again, this time without thinking about it or worrying. With his head resting against Peter's shoulders it might seem like they're cuddling but well...the end of the movie is close and Scott's sure it's going to be terrifying. ]
[he'll put it on his to-do list, for sure. right now, peter's content with an arm around scott's shoulders and the other hand entwined with the younger male's.] Eh, we all deal with our mutations somehow. By the time people learn about it, the mutant with the ability probably has it under control.
[still watching from the corner of his eye, he turns and props his chin on scott's head, lips quirked ever so slightly.] If it does, I'll walk alongside and make sure no creepy things get you.
I hope they do, if that's the case. [ If Scott were more honest with himself, he would realize that he's enjoying the closeness more than normal friends to. But that's probably a revelation for another time, now he hums softly when Peter rest his head on him, smiling. ]
Don't worry so much about it. [peter, on the other hand, has no trouble admitting he's enjoying the physical contact. he's always been a rather open person and this situation is no exception.]
HM...my hero. [ He leans closer, resting against Peter more comfortable. He move is playing its most scary scenes, towards the ending, but Scott's no longer so freaked out by it. It helps to have good friends near. ]
